John 1:1-5

Scripture: John 1:1-5

  1. Jesus is the Eternal Word:
    • “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)
    • Jesus is fully divine and fully human, revealing the Father because He is God in the flesh (John 10:30).
    • John 16:13: The Spirit of truth guides us into all truth.
    • Following Jesus means following the eternal Word, the very essence of God.

  1. Jesus is our Creator:
    • “All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.” (John 1:3)
    • Jesus is the Creator of everything, visible and invisible (Colossians 1:16-17).
    • Connection to Jesus allows us to flourish, as in Psalm 1:3 and 2 Corinthians 5:17.
      • In Christ, we are a new creation.

  1. Jesus is the Light:
    • “In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” (John 1:4-5)
    • Jesus illuminates our understanding, exposes sin, and reveals the path to salvation.
    • His resurrection proves that darkness cannot overpower Him.
    • John 8:12: “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness.”

Closing Scripture Recap:

  • “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” (Psalm 27:1)
  • Following Jesus means living in His light, gaining a new perspective, and leaving behind fear and despair.
