God’s Justice, Mercy, and Redemption Amid Human Sin

Genesis 4-7

Genesis 4–7 reveals God’s holiness, justice, and mercy as He confronts human sin and offers redemption. In these chapters, we see the spread of sin in Cain’s jealousy and violence, the corruption of humanity in Noah’s time, and God’s righteous judgment through the flood. Yet, God’s character shines in His provision of hope: He marks Cain with protection, preserves Noah and his family through the ark, and establishes a covenant with creation. These events point to Jesus, the ultimate Savior who rescues us from sin’s destruction. As we reflect, we are reminded of our own sinfulness and God’s grace, calling us to live lives of faith and obedience, like Noah, and to share the hope of salvation found in Christ. Through these stories, we see God’s unfolding plan of redemption and His desire to restore His creation.
